Commemorating Djibouti’s 48th Independence Anniversary (June 27, 2025): Strengthening Bilateral Relations with the United States

On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of Djibouti's Independence Day, celebrated on June 27, 2025, the Embassy of Djibouti in Washington, D.C. hosted a festive reception at the Willard InterContinental Hotel to commemorate this historic milestone.
The event was presided over by His Excellency Mohamed Siad Douale, Ambassador of Djibouti to the United States, and served as a tribute to the strong and enduring bilateral relationship between the Republic of Djibouti and the United States of America.
Throughout the evening, Ambassador Douale and the Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs at the U.S. Department of State delivered remarks emphasizing the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Notably, the Chairperson of the African Union, Mr. Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, honored the occasion with his presence, joining the celebration alongside members of the Djiboutian diaspora in the United States, distinguished guests of honor, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the United States.

The speakers underscored Djibouti’s essential role in international trade, maritime security, and its broader significance in maintaining global stability along key shipping routes, particularly through the Bab El-Mandeb Strait.
