His visit is to further enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries. This is the second high-level visit following US Defense Secretary James N. Mattis last year. This is testament to the excellent relations that exist between Djibouti and the United States.

Djibouti remains a true, loyal and reliable partner to the United States.

The students are representing the Republic of Djibouti for this year's National University Model Arab League Conference. The Economic Counselor Mr. Abdallah Omar Absieh had meeting on Wednesday 15th February 2017 in the Embassy with Mr. Aysa Miller Director for African Affairs Office of the Us Trade Representative.
The discussion has generally focused on improving the business climate and how to facilitate the investment of US companies in Djibouti and in particular to increase trade flows between the two countries. Mr Miller pledged to work with Djibouti to help attract US investments in the priority area such as energy, infrastructure and Tourism.

A delegation from DPFZA was present in the Washington Dc to participate at US-Africa Trade Conference in Baltimore.

A delegation from DPFZA was present in Washington dc to participate US- Africa Trade Conference in Baltimore.

They presented  Investment opportunities offered by Djibouti's Ports and Free Zone, and also had a chance to meet with the Department of Commerce and USTDA  (Trade Development Agency ). They  Showed the US companies the important role played by the Djibouti Ports, as a Strategic Hub for International  Trade and Gateway to the East African landlocked countries such as Ethiopia and South Sudan.

Djibouti on Thursday launched the first phase of Africa's biggest free-trade zone, seeking to capitalise on its strategic position on one of the world's busiest trade routes.

At a ceremony in the capital, President Ismael Omar Guelleh hailed the scheme as the culmination of infrastructure projects "boosting Djibouti's place in international trade and commerce".
