Commercial operations under way on Djibouti-Ethiopia railway

The 750-km electric railway, which runs from Addis Ababa to Dire Dawa in Ethiopia and on to Djibouti city, began operating on November 8, following the successful conclusion of test runs in May.

Long in the offing, the rail link is expected to reduce freight and passenger carry times from several days to just 10 hours.

The students are representing the Republic of Djibouti for this year's National University Model Arab League Conference. The Government of Djibouti wishes to correct certain errors in your report of March 6, 2018, concerning its recent termination of a port management contract with DP World, a Dubai company.

Djibouti exercised its contractual right to terminate the contract due to the failure of DP World to honor its contractual commitments. Djibouti’s actions were a lawful and reasonable exercise of its contractual and sovereign rights.
